Lodging

Here are some suggestions for lodging if you traveling.

Santa Monica

Santa Monica is a 20-30 min drive to Duke’s, with lots of fun spots by the beach. 3rd street Promenade is a great walking-friendly location with endless spots for food, drinks, and shopping, near the Santa Monica Pier and the beach. The hotels around 3rd street and by the beach are a little pricier, we’ve picked a few locations that are more reasonable.

Similarly, look for deals on priceline.com or hotels.com for hotels nearby these, or for better rates.

Ken’s Family – Whittier, CA.

For Ken’s family, if you want to stay close to mom for the weekend, mom lives in Whittier, CA, in the “Uptown Whittier” neighborhood. Uptown Whittier is a walking friendly neighborhood with lots of great restaurants, wine bars, and craft beer bars up and down Greenleaf avenue. Whittier is about an hour drive to Santa Monica and a little over an hour to Dukes. (Whittier fun fact: has the distinction of being the birthplace of president Nixon.)
